Most of the messages I receive start along the lines of .. ‘.. and I read all the shite to the end ..’ .. To be honest, there’s an obvious reason someone would put that to me, and I do actually like it when it’s very obvious my profile has all been read. It shows a particular character, or rather it shows a particular character who hasn’t read it, and has just sent a ‘My PW is HungLikeADonkey’.

So I’d say your opening message should make reference in some way to the profile you’re responding to. Start an appropriate conversation based on that. Check your spelling and your grammar, and be nice. Simple really ..! Sometimes the ‘click’ for that special person can come just from that opening message. Good luck

To elaborate - I am disappointed with messages like "How has your day been?". I like to read something thoughtful that relates to something I have written in my bio...

The best are those from people who have made a comment on something stated on my profile. It indicates to me they could be genuine and will gain my interest over someone who has just sent out a cut and paste comment.
