How to suppress the excitement?

I've met someone and we're a great match. We've been sneaking off to see each other and getting a buzz from the adrenaline. My question is, how do you suppress the excitement when you're at home? I get butterflies just from a text message and I'm walking around like a grinning idiot half the time. How do you tone down the glow up?

I would not over-stress about being happy and enjoying a situation. If it is far from normal at home that says a lot more about your partner than you.

Poker face.. takes practice.. 😉 I’m just heartless… I don’t get excited for anyone anymore… But I do find when I have a lover I’m definitely a better wife.. hubby gets the benefits in other ways… 😉 🤫

You're very lucky so why risk getting found out, how about trying to imagine what would happen if everyone knew why you were so happy! That should tone it down a bit :-)

Watch out your husband doesn't notice because he will

I have this same problem when having an affair.
Took me a while to learn how to hide it.

Sounds silly and facile, but it works - at least to an extent. Chewing gum helps channel that grin and pull a small curtain over that glazed exression.

Also, have an answer or two ready-prepared for that "what are you thinking about then?"
question.

"I was just thinking about the time we went..." (chewing gently and happily)

You're most welcome. I'll have a pint please 😎🍺

Did you know you can't breath when you smile?

Learn to play poker and work on your 'poker face.
Self reflect on your personal behaviours and character traits so that 'you' are aware of what you do. Talk to yourself in the mirror so that you can see what your face looks like when you're happy, sad, stressed etc...
Compartmentalising is great if you can do it but complacency is ever present!

Compartmentalisation is key,
But then again, who doesn’t like to see their OH in a great mood? The sun is shining, feeling happy ans healthy, if you turn it round to reflect on your home like, then it’s killing two birds with one stone. Certainly makes my life easier at home when I’ve got something that can make me feel shielded from the crap in a regular basis x
