You're Great!

Post first date ….
If the guy messages you and says several times “you’re great” - what does that mean?! I mean is quite a generic word

'great' seems a fairly positive response, a starting point surely

Would love to know if this progressed to another date and whether his messaging has improved!!!

I think some people don’t want to come across as super pushy or go over the top. Perhaps if you get to know him better you might get him to open up more?

So many of us (gentlemen) want to start things off a slowly and build our way up to conversations. We want to be sensitive and get to know. But I have found that some say they want a conversation, but it’s all one way. Some of these profiles are generic and obviously with “if your interested” followed by something with little thought.

That may have alienated me here, but honestly if we ask you about yourselves etc it means we want to have a conversation that connects with you as a person. One word answers or going quiet or not giving us anything back is disheartening.

Sounds like the poor guy just can't win ... you haven't told us exactly what the rest of his message says so we can't really tell you what his three "you're great" could possibly mean.

Surely the bottom line is that (a) he messaged you after the meet and (b) you either want to see him again or you don't.

No wonder men complain that whatever they do is never right ... 🤦‍♀️

Guys pov

1. Most likely the bugs does not have a wide range of vocabulary

2. But honestly what does it matter ? They are paying you a compliment. Take it, don't think about it too deeply. messages on here have no context or intent - so just assume good intent and we'll all be happy :)

On the good side- you have a contact who is prepared to pay you a compliment. On the not so good side, maybe they haven't a large vocabulary, or are not 'great' at messaging, which, let's face it, can occasionally be ambiguous as to the real meaning.

If 'you're great' is the only thing they write then it is going to be a limited conversation, though. Surely 'post first date' one concentrates on the person whom you met rather than the messages?

If you really fancied him you wouldn't be asking this question at all, never mind on a public forum.

You obviously don't.

Great is a word men use to describe objects and experiences. "He's got a great car" or "that was a great holiday".

Calling a woman great means you just got put in the friend zone and he neither fancies you nor thinks of you romantically. Sorry.

I wouldn’t worry too much about that. If he is still messaging and keen…plus you like him. It’s win win! Good luck.
