Are LinkedIn romances a thing?

Has anyone ever been asked out on LinkedIn before and is it a big red flag for you? Seems quite unprofessional, and a definitely risky for someone seeking an affair.

Ok, so there’s different levels to this! Firstly, scammers operate on LinkedIn! I’ve been approached by several ladies who show out from the start because they’re so pushy when it comes to drawing you off LinkedIn and onto a different platform, normally WhatsApp, Telegram or gmail. Secondly, relationships develop on LinkedIn in the same way they do in other walks of life; business conversations, using DM, reveals chemistry, which leads to meets for coffee, which leads to social drinks, which leads to … and so on! Thirdly, LinkedIn puts old flames back in contact with each other i.e. through school groups, veterans groups, associations etc. which puts you back into the second level! So, should you use LinkedIn as a Flirt Forum: absolutely not! Is it possible to develop a romantic relationship on LinkedIn: yes, of course it is 🤷🏻‍♂️

I havent had that but if a discussion turned more personal I wouldn't think it to be a red flag

Well the answer from a male personal perspective is no, but then my professional network is actually that, people I have worked with or collaborated with. But hey, if it's two single people, and you dont take it to creep level 100, shoot your shot. I guess its no different than asking someone if they'd like to go for coffee at a bus stop right? That's my ten pence worth.

I was contacted on LinkedIn by a lady from the USA who was doing some research and came across my profile. She said that she linked reading about me and my picture. What started off academic ended with some lovely emails and chat.
I still get a birthday message each year from her along with an invite to do some further research!
No red-flag but one has to be careful.
James

LinkedIn was a good thing when it began but it’s now a snooping Facebook like place …😖

For an affair it seems ridiculous to use LinkedIn. For two single people it is still unusual to use a professional platform in this way, but then some chat about work may lead to flirting. It seems crazy to use this platform to start an affair though and more likely to result in a screenshot of the "advance" being sent out to the world via X or Reddit...
