The escapism is a huge release, very appealing. The question - is it easier, not in all cases, it can make you look at your marriage and force you to realise what you are truly missing, and let's face it, something is missing if we seek in the first place. Yet, its a bubble, its not reality, I mean getting dressed up, whispering sweet nothings, meeting in hotels rooms, candle lit dinners, can hardly be compared to living together 24/7. I definitely think men are far less invested when it comes to emotionally engaging, perhaps its only the sex that is missing from their lives, if that frustration is fulfilled elsewhere, good vibes at home with the wife.

Yes I got on with my wife much better during my precious long term affair. Weird , I was surprised how well we actually got on.

yes deffently i had an 5 year affair and i found i got on better with my wife during that time , i suppose i was getting the romance, excitement and spark, else where

I have had two affairs in the past and during those periods I did find my self on best behaviour and did get along better, thankfully my wife is a key worker and is going into work or I could see both of us coming close to murder. Haven't had an affair in the last 15 years, it has been hard to be a good boy

Of course. It makes you more patient and kind. Also makes you appreciate the little things at home. The IE relationship is to serve a different type of purpose, some romance, excitement and spark, naturally when you have that extra connection in your life you will be happier at home with family

BrightEyes1975 - you hit the mail on the head. Ideally to appreciate the 95% good in my marriage would make a difference. The 5% affair but would just enhance my life, but it's hard not to invest more in it eh?!

However I try, I'm not good at compartmentalising and the frustrations experienced with hubby just feel worse when my mind is on someone else!
