Thoughts on drinking protocol on a first date? Anyone else have a pre-drink for dutch courage?

I've always enjoyed a social drink and never imagined I'd be anti-alcohol, but 10 years of watching my wife come home so drunk she can't stand or talk despite being on serious medication, has left me anxious around alcohol! I'd love to be able to relax again over a drink with someone.

I once went on a lunch date where he wanted to do shots as well as a glass of tipple! 😳. But then I also went on a date where he asked for a glass of tap water as alcohol doesn’t agree with him 😅. Needless to say I didn’t meet them again......

Although I’m very confident in my job ... very nervous to go on date but I’d only have a lemonade or water on first date ...... in case I need to go haha

@Sexsy1xxx - Guess the point youre making is you will have spoken, messaged, emailed and or text to one another anyway before meeting. So not necessarily just has to be a coffee. X

Cant think of a better way to break the ice over a nice glass of wine or beer , it's more romantic than a cuppa

I Like going to public places on first date. Like going to Museum and then go to Costa if it's going well...
But in the museum you don't have to Talk to him if you Don't Fancy him 🤣🤣🤣

I prefer a coffee (or tea) for a first or any meeting. I find the atmosphere in a coffee shop more conducive to a secret assignation. Pubs are usually so loud I would have to shout to be heard which is not at all relaxing. There are always hotel lounges of course but I would still have coffee.

Always important to chat a little first is say to see if you have a connection. Durham bars are good.
