First date?

What's a good first date idea? It's yonks since I've last been to a restaurant. Work and Life is just SO busy.

Is a restaurant even what you really want to do on a first date anyway?

Met a guy once from here and we had arranged a meal. Unfortunately when he turned up it was obvious his photos were from at least 20 years ago, I was so embarrassed and actually quite angry. It was the quickest meal Ive ever shoved down. No dessert. No coffee. I couldn't wait to escape. Ive learned now its a quick coffee or drink and thats it. Saves alot of stress on both sides.

Never meet for more than an initial 15 mins to say a quick hi....never get lumbered with a commitment not to be able to escape but allow flexibility in your timings so you can stay longer if you want .

I like to share a bag of pork scratchings and a can of Tennents Special Brew, whilst going for a walk down the cut on a first date. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

Food, drink, laughs, and maybe a bit of flirting. Very lovely way to spend a few hours ๐Ÿ˜

Personally I would stick to drinks for a first date. Either tea/coffee or a drink or two lol. Having a meal with someone you have just met for the first time could prove to be awkward if he/she isnโ€™t what you were expecting and you decide they are not for you. In a nutshell - itโ€™s easier to excuse yourself from a 20 minute coffee date than it is from a meal. What a waste of food lol ๐Ÿ˜

@Pink Eiga

I once had a first date in a Mexican restaurant. I ordered tacos ๐ŸŒฎ and once they were served I thought to myself- try eating these without making loud crunching noises or making a mess lol. They were delicious and my date and I had a good laugh over the crunching and lip wiping ๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’‹

Juicy burgers. There was no easy way to eat without making a right mess. Still, a fantastic first meet and a great time had ๐Ÿ˜Š

Met a pub for a previous IE. We went back there for anniversaries etc. sadly no longer together but hopeful now that Iโ€™m back in here if finding an excuse to search for a new country pub.

Keep it simple. Wherever your date feels safe at that time of day: daytime coffee shop, lunchtime cafe or pub, evening meal. I also like a walk and chat. Needs to be clearly NSA whilst you're getting to know each other. From my POV, I like someone who turns up rather than confirms details then ghosts.
