Make use of the subject box to get a lady's interest and stand out from the other unread messages in her inbox. Then make a comment on her profile in the message body. Then ask an interesting question for her to reply to.

That's what gets me reading and replying to messages.

We are trying to impress and be impressed . We impress by standing out - it's almost impossible to be completely authentic in an opening line but there's something about humour that achieves most authenticity per unit word used. Not helping. Sorry !

Depends if the message/chat up line is for a woman or a man.

For women:

"Hey, I was really struck by that interesting thing on your profile..."

"Im so glad you you love that activity, me too, let's do it together"


For men:

"Fancy a fuck?"

Most effective chat up line ever.
