I think everyone is getting too hung up on this.
It is between the two people involved how they navigate this.
Everyone's situation is different and as long as the couple are happy with whatever they have decided on, it's nobody's business, is it. I would also say it's a generation thing.

It seems a bit sexist to me.
If you're happy to pay for everything on a night out with your girlfriends but you only expect the men to pay for everything on a night out then, it's sexism.

Nobody would endorse this kind of behaviour in the modern workplace.

As a woman who can definitely afford to pay for everything myself. However I can pay for anything but not hotel. I would feel bad not paying for it but on the other hand would feel cheap paying for it 🤦‍♀️
But if a guy expects 50/50? Well good luck to him! He has no luck with me though

In my past IE relationships I have usually paid for most or all of the expenses and that means me personally, not my company! In fact I was even told once "Please stop buying me things". Sometimes, when its clear that my lady actually genuinely wants to contribute and its not a token gesture then I have the wisdom to accept.

Hi all

I by default being a Gentleman always pay for the hotel bill and that's me. Alternatively I acquire suitable accomodation but all depends on the IE and location.

However, there have been instances where I've had to accept a ladies wishes when they've actually insisted to contribute half or even in full. This can happen if your IE is independent and feels she wants to pay her way and not obligated in any way. I was told by my IE that she'd feel that it's fairer and was financially ok to do so. Doesn't happen often and therefore I'm quite happy to pamper and spoil my IE.

So this can vary for all IEs and different scenarios and financial circumstances. Additionally also being able to access the money without leaving a trail.. Definitely try to agree and clarify this beforehand.

Whoever pays just don' get caught and have fun!

Alot of guys on IE get there hotel rooms paid for when working away from home anyway so everyone's a winner if they have a lovely lady to entertain there also happy days

YotkshireRugby of course I pay for my hotel when I go on holiday but like I said I will not pay for the hotel with an IE

The definition of "A gentleman" these days is surely is a man who treats a lady with respect , understanding and consideration and as an equal on equal terms, not a man who insists on paying for everything regardless of personal circumstances. That's the definition of a
