When is it ok to exchange phone numbers?

We've all been chatting on the forum about what makes a good profiles and
initial messaging but when is the best time to give out our phone numbers,
move to another app for messaging or chat on the phone?

Of course this is an easy debate, whilst no one has mentioned that holy of holy, the home landline! Du do duuuuuh!

Now then, back in the day it was the only phone.

So who's brave enough?

Pretty standard pattern here isn’t there. Why give out private details such has phone numbers when there are so many other options such as kik and many other messaging apps. Once the trust bridge has been built then yes a phone number isn’t a bad thing unless joy turns sour.

The main problem with committing to the life phone is in the event of a troublesome parting. You ex ie might take a while to give you up, therein causing consternation until that has passed.

Ok where am i on this? Kik yes use that and secret email. So i give them first which ever suits thats my initial contact route outside IE then after meeting i can make the next judgement call. Phone whats app etc. You cant judfe a character fully (emphasis on fully) from online text mix that with face to face you can make a much more valid judgement will this work? Is it good for me snd them and then move to base 2 re communication methods

Phone numbers must come once trust has been established and only then. That's a judgement call (no pun intended) and you have to trust your instincts, we all have good instincts, don't we! Most people are smart enough to gauge a genuine person and push away the fake profiles, bogus and players within a few IE texts. You must believe that many people on IE are actually really kind, honest and genuine people, and are here because they are missing what IE offers. I was introduced to Telegraph chat app recently and it's better than kik. WA or FB are a no no because we have all send the wrong messages or photos to the wrong friend, or worse still, the partner. Set up an agreement with them as well that if you don't go forward you delete any record or numbers. And hope that you both respect each other enough to follow that through. But we're all grown up so we know what we're doing, with a touch of risk, after all that makes it exciting.

I use Kik & will only give out my number to someone I feel can be trusted. I don’t call anyone unless he’s told me it’s safe to do so & I would expect the same. I don’t have 2 phones to play this game so need to be cautious.

Kik is definitely better, despite some of its features being disabled recently.

Exotic.. That’s true..

I have lots of Male friends. Most all gay soo no issues having random Male number in my phone. Plus I delete all messages.

But I do prefer Kik.. I’ve not got a secret phone 😂

Hide in plain sight ... choose an unassuming male/female name which won't stick out amongst your legit contacts.

If your phone gets lent to your spouse and they see kik,WhatsApp,telegraph etc. They'll wonder why. So that's a risk. Offering it as some kind of measure is redundant.

If you can't hide an old phone, how can you hide an affair?
