“ are you free to meet me this Friday at South Mimms travel lodge?”
Needless to say he was blocked straightaway. If you strip off all the pleasantries, politeness, charm, humour and interesting conversation ( given that you read the profile first and it sounds like you could be a match), it becomes just a meat market.

I think it's important to try and stand out during an introductory message. Mostly women get very generic (and boring) "Hi, how are you finding it on here" that they have seen a thousand times before. It's getting that balance between being interesting, humorous, a tad over confident on one hand and not being a jerk on the other. That line varies for person to person too so you need to pick up hints on where it is from the "blurb"

Just my thoughts.... :)

Secretaccomplace. Donald trumps head instantly recognised as a penis but you’ll be allowed it as your profile pic , what’s not to love

Just be yourself :-) Your character will shine through in a first message and bound to get attention if it comes naturally :-)

Read the person's profile and if it attracts you then start a conversation based on their interests. If you are looking to have a relationship with someone it will, believe it or not, involve more than just sex. Be courteous, honest and don't try to be someone you're not that just waste everyone's time. If you do that and get a meaningful response then you've half a chance of being successful.

It's always hard to guage, the more generic the profile, especially auto generated profiles the harder.
Don't be crass, take a genuine interest in them, even check through the non descriptive lake music taste if there is nothing you can really comment on in the text.
Still will not guantee a reply, half the time your message is read and they don't even read your profile.
