Fifty Shades of Grey a tedious and torturous read… as for the film!! Oh dear will someone please pass me a blindfold and some earplugs (as opposed to butt plugs) so I can’t see or hear this migraine of a film Please everyone whatever your kink or kinks may be? Go out and explore them see what works best for you then enjoy them (I think I’ll end with a song now) A sort of a musical S&M here goes but be warned my voice is a bit rubbish What have I got that makes you really want me is it my Body or something inside me have you got the time to find out who I really am? The song title is Is it my body by Alice Cooper as opposed to Jilly Cooper and as for Barbara Cartland and Mills and Boon I think we need the guillotine for them !!! Extreme I know but the books are extremely painful(S&M for your intellect) Jilly Cooper escapes with just a slap of the bottom as for me (now we’re did I put that lube )

Agree.

Also, Fifty Shades is Barbara Cartland with sex ... romantic porn ... the guy is goodlooking, young and a BILLIONAIRE ... he picks her up in a helicopter and takes her to dinner in another city/country/whatever.

If the guy was an ugly, unemployed and peniless living in some dingy basement flat and did all those things to her, the police will be involved and it will be called abduction/sexual abuse/rape etc, etc!!!

I suppose the film is responsible for much of the recent interest. But it is of course a popularised version of a genre which is actually a broad church.

All too often people tend to make very simplistic assumptions about what this involves. The B and D are different from and don’t have to go with the S&M.

What surprises me in conversation is when women speak about whether they are or are not submissive. Which sometimes misses the point that this isn’t necessarily about wilting violets but more whether you’re interested in escape, exploration and something very different from run-of-the-mill.

I guess what the film has done - or the books - is make darker pleasures more mainstream. You could argue a lot of this was already present in 9 1/2 weeks or a few moments in Basic Instinct but it’s good to know it’s now kitchen table conversation or at least secret kitchen table musing.

I am a great believer in don’t knock it until you try it, there are many levels of bdsm, from tie and tease up to full S&M, many women and indeed men in high powered jobs like to totally give up control. As long as it is fully consensual and each party trusts each other away you go. Just because you enjoy BDSM does not mean than you don’t enjoy normal vanilla sex…..imho.
