The 'Average' body

This seems, I suggest, to be often considered differently by men and women.

It does of course perhaps depend on age? I mean is it a size 10 when
considering a woman in her 20's. Or a 12/14 when older say after having
kids? Or even 14/16?

What is a woman's view and also that of a man?

RFF -

As of 2023, the average UK size is 16 for women. The average UK height for women is 5ft 3.

I wish clothing came on half sizes like shoes do. I'm more of a size 11.

Well Kingsman…
You have a gorgeous figure. And it suits you. Don’t try and aim for something that’s virtually unachievable especially as you’re doing all the right things anyway. Like you said your confidence in your own skin sells in itself.

Now I on the other hand have a lot to improve 😂
I could do better but these last 5 uneventful years left me feeling rather unmotivated about making improvements. However I’ve a feeling an IE might be just the motivation I need.

Back to the OP
For women they say the average size is a 14. But that depends on age, height etc.
I’m a 14 /16 and would rather be under the average size.
For men a 36” waist is usually classed as average.
🤷‍♀️

Kingsman406 - it's probably totally unique to each type of woman!

Loads of women seem to like 'rugby' types - not my thing at all. The first thing I liked about my husband was that his trousers hung on him like David Bowie's - lean and long. I like men that look like they've been held in captivity - in a library! 😂 My current total crazy pash is The Sandman (Netflix). Oh God, the VOICE alone makes me reel!

Exactly FC. She had a 22 inch waist! I don’t know why she has this long standing reputation for being plus sized.

Zyphod - apologies, that's incorrect. She was a size 10-12 UK size, her original clothing has been measured, the pieces which survive and are in private collections. The size 14 is a myth.

Zyphod - Marilyn Monroe's was a US size 14. That's a UK size 10.

So I've often thought what's a woman's ideal build for a man?

So I'm slim but athletic and quite muscular problem is I don't look it because well clothes don't show off my build and I'm not into going topless...I think the frustration that lies with me is that I've tried to put weight on I eat healthily and quite a lot and I exercise nearly every day but no matter what I try I can't gain weight now I'm not underweight I'm just naturally slim ive tried to change my build but I'm no Steve Rogers (captain anerica) but it's thet old age adage feel good about yourself and others will feel good about you too...welcome your comments

I love that you think MM was equivalent to a U.K. size 14 of today Zyphod!! Or that a size 14 is classed as plus size today

I am a size 6/8/10 depending on the vanity sizing of shop and all 3 of my measurements are larger than hers! She was tiny

Marilyn Monroe was a size 14, which today would be classed as plus size or curvy in the fashion industry, then she was considered slim.
It's interesting when you compare mens and womens magazines, where men mags often feature women with larger boobs and bums, whereas womens magazines feature much slimmer women.
As a lover of the slightly fuller body, wonder bras are the devils spawn. they get your hopes up and then, damn. ;o)

C1975…

Shoe size does correlate to height in women but .. when I was having my first baby ..the midwife asked me my shoe size saying something to do with hip size…but there isn’t evidence to prove that…

So maybe your 14 inch feet are equivalent to the size of your child bearing hips …😂😂😂😂
