I have to say i find quirky and amusing profiles preferable to the more agressive, in your face, "here are my tits n ass hanging out of something skimpy from ann summers. Cant stand the auto generated crap

My username was going to be a DJ name but the gigs dried up a little a while ago…

It’s the name of a character from a TV show I watched recently and it rhymes with the make of lorry I drive. It has a nice rhythm to it. Deke I Vee Co.

YES!! The profile name is not of any significance. I sift through profiles looking for a potential match in terms of desires, availability etc, and then spend real time writing an approach that comments on the profile. If someone has not bothered to, or can't, write something meaningful, then there appears little point in me putting my time and effort into that. However if everyone is thinking that way, it may be worth changing my strategy ;)

As a male I use the user name 'godsgiftxxx` this is a reference to the well-known saying used mostly by females 'he thinks his god's gift (to women). I thought it would at least catch the eye. And the xxx to say actually I'm a softie and its joke about myself.
And it does work reasonably well. But I did have a conversation by phone or text where a woman first didn't understand it and second gave me the 'air' about it and stopped communicating with me.

Like I mentioned before names are names .. the most important is the commutation between the other person and I mean eye to eye .. not flat texting…
I am not really good at texting but I can do eye contact every time

So you can dream up a fancy profile name; clever double entendre, direct provocative, truthful and boring, sweet and sensitive - primarily to 'hook' some interest, but whilst hooking some, the chances are you will put off many. The only worthwhile virtue in the name is that it is memorable.
As for the profile descriptions. I think we're all agreed that the auto generated profile tells you nothing except that the owner is incapable or just idle/not that bothered.
I feel a detailed and well written profile should save a lot of false starts but, then it will probably be too long and like this comment no one will read it all.
