First date

When do you know it's time to suggest going for dinner on a first date? Or are first date drinks more appropriate? x

"Left standing outside a hotel near Hinckley for over an hour once"

Why would you wait so long?!

I always take the approach that if I get stood up I'll go ahead with the plans anyway.
So, if I was to meet for coffee, I'll still get a coffee. If I was meeting for a meal, I'll go ahead and eat without them... But NEVER will I stand around outside somewhere waiting for someone.

And if they're late for a hotel meet, I'm not waiting any longer than the time it takes to order and drink a coffee in the bar.

Omg .I don't think dinner for a first date would be a good idea. A coffee is enough to know if you are going to get on .Actually ,I know within a minute or two !

Ps Queenbee34. I've been there got the T shirt.

Left standing outside a hotel near Hinckley for over an hour once.

However there are good people here too, so don't give up as a result of one bad apple.

Go for a coffee or a long cold drink in a country pub. If you get on you can always share a cake or two, or a light lunch. Don't drag out the date, make it fun.

I think something you are both comfortable with. And that you can both do. There are no hard and fast rules when you are breaking the rules....😉

Cocktail bar a few drinks to calm the nerves. If it’s doesn’t work out at least you had a good few drinks.

@ Queenbee and @anewstartneeded
I agree with the sentiment but the problem is it really is personal - and you cant really take it any other way. Rejection is hard but as the man said there seem to be some genuine and fun people on here. You won't get a 'wrong-un' every time just try not to get too disillusioned when you do x (Not flirting as Im safely out of your age range)

There are a lot of people on this site who are like that. Don't take it personally. X
